Greenwood, SC- Willie “Maurice” Perkins, 80, of 49 Stockman Street, life partner of Ethel Murray, departed this walk of life on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Self Regional Healthcare. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late James Gray, the late Ada Lee Perkins Morris, and his stepfather, the late Joe Morris. He was raised in the home of Louise Foster, and the Late Robert Foster Sr. He was a member of Dunham Temple C.M.E Church where he served as an Usher. He was an employee of Tarmac for “forty years”, and Naturescapes Landscape Company.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his life partner, Ethel Murray of the home; one son, Zacchaeus (Chanika) Martin of Columbia, SC; one stepsister, Izora M. Belcher of Hodges, SC; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two aunts, Ruth Perkins Smith of Greenwood, SC and Mary Alice Perkins of Columbus, OH; his foster mother, Louise Foster of Hodges, SC; eight stepchildren, Wayne Murray of Spartanburg, SC, Steven (Denise) Murray of Simpsonville, SC, Dwight Murray of Greenville, SC, Mary (Larry) Johnson of Promised Land, SC; Carolyn (Pastor Albert) Bell of McCormick, SC, Dorothy (Michael) Murray, James Turner, and Theresa Murray all of Greenwood, SC; five foster siblings, Rosa Anderson, Randy Foster, Charles Foster, Douglas Foster, and Roger Foster; and a host of Nephews, Nieces, special cousins, and other relatives to mourn his passing.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church, conducted by Pastor James McKee. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. Please be mindful and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
