Peggy Reed Carroll Obituary



Peggy Ann Carroll, age 74, took God by the hand on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at her home of Bradley, South Carolina. She was born July 22, 1948, to the union of the late Lawrence Reed and Louise Coates of Greenwood County. Peggy was the wife of the late Willie Carroll and to this union were two children. A native of Greenwood, South Carolina, she was a graduate of Brewer High School class of 1968 and employed with Durst Plant and Matthews Mill until her retirement.
Peggy was a dedicated and faithful member of Cross Road Baptist Church where she was an active member of the usher board, Missionary Society, and the Kitchen Committee. She was a member of Ladies Eight Society No. 69. Peggy had an affectionate love for her family and friends and never met a stranger. She was an avid lover of hats. Peggy enjoyed driving, gardening, and whenever spending time with family and friends, she had the most infectious laugh and smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson Quintavious Carroll, parents, a sister Virginia Mae Reed, brothers Willie Edward Coates and Lawrence Reed Jr.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memory of love and laughter; sons Willie “Quinton” (Deborah) Carroll of Greenwood, South Carolina, and Sheldon Carroll of the home; Grandchildren Maura Carroll-Wilkerson of Charleston, South Carolina, Ashley Carroll of Columbia, South Carolina, Javon and Kaden Carroll both of Greenville, South Carolina, Zaniyah Carroll of Abbeville, South Carolina; four great-grandchildren; sisters Elease Williams, Brenda (Edmond) Wright both of Bradley, South Carolina, Joyce Henderson, Diane Smith, and Carolyn Austin all of Greenwood, South Carolina; special nieces Lendie (Jermaine) Miller and Debra (David) Little both of Laurens, South Carolina; seven sisters-in-law; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.


Services will be 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Cross Road Baptist Church , conducted by Rev. Joseph Caldwell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. The Family is at the home. Please be mindful and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
