Kimyatta Burton Obituary

Kimyatta "Kim" Sheree Jefferson Burton, 43, was granted angel wings on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Self Regional Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1974 and grew up in Greenwood, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Vicki Jefferson and the late Nathan Wright.
Kim was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Wallace and Patricia Harrison Williams. She attended Greenwood District 50 public schools, graduating from Greenwood High School with the class of 1992. She worked at the hospital for over fifteen years, beginning in the Veranda and ending as a Ward Secretary. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching football, listening to music/dancing, and most importantly spending time with her children and family.
She leaves to cherish her memory: former husband, Derrick Burton with whom she shared son Derrius (DJ) Burton; son, Jayden Carroll; three sisters, Tracey (Jeffrey) Pickard of Charlotte, NC, Kiviette Jefferson of Philadelphia, PA, and Genetta (Brian) Vinson of Lake Wylie, SC; maternal grandmother, Olivia Jefferson of Philadelphia, PA; three nieces, Breyell Campbell of Philadelphia, PA, Briana and Lauryn Vinson of Lake Wylie, SC; three nephews, Charles Dickens, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA, Trey Pickard of Charlotte, NC, and Tyler Vinson of Lake Wylie, SC; special uncle, Rev. Dr. Willie S. (Sandra) Harrison; special cousin, Sadie Haley; god-mother, Barbara Thompson; special aunt, Charlmane Bachelor of Philadelphia, PA; and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Arthur Kemp, officiating, Rev. Raymond Adams, Presiding. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park. The family will greet relatives and friends 6-8pm. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the chapel of Robinson & Son Mortuary.
