Obituary

Jonathan "Joe Nathan" Fisher, 83, of Greenwood, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at his home. Jonathan was born on March 11, 1940, to the late Mozell Williams Fisher, and Henry Bussey in Greenwood, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by, one son, Matthew Greene; three sons-in-law, Gerald Moten, Melvin Brooks, and Lemore Young; three sisters, Betty Elmore, Jessie Pearl Butler, and Louise Gladden; and two brothers, Donnie Bussey, and Franklin Davis.

Over the years Jonathan worked for Greenwood School District 50, and Lander University. He retired from Piedmont Technical College. Jonathan enjoyed going fishing and working on cars.

He  leaves to cherish his memories, his lifelong partner Mattie Greene of the home; Eleven children: six daughters, Grace Moten of Greenville, SC, Tiny Greene of Greenwood, SC, Janice Fisher Young of Anderson, SC, Debra Harris and Viola (Edward) Dye both of Greenwood, SC, and Wendy Ross of McCormick, SC; Five sons, Travis Greene of Greenwood, SC, Mark Greene of Montana, Bernard Fisher of Spartanburg, SC, Marvin Childs of Greenwood, SC, and Rev. James (Renee) Fisher of Greensboro, NC; two bonus children. Pamela Brooks of Greenwood, SC, and Roosevelt Greene of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Janice Martey, and Viola Harper; one brother, John Henry Bussey; he has a host of grandchildren, great grands, nieces, nephews, friends, and cousins to mourn his passing.


Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the chapel of Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc, conducted by Bishop Emmanuel Spearman. Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m.-6:00 pm on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. His family will be accepting visitors from 1-5 P.M., at the home, 207 Durst Avenue West, Greenwood, SC. Please be mindful and practice social distancing and wear a mask. Online condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com. Arrangements are being handled by Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc.
