Jannie Brown Rapp Obituary

Jannie Ruth Brown Rapp, 82, of 112 Biscayne Drive, Greenwood, SC, died March 16, 2024 at Self Regional Hospital. Mrs. Rapp was born in the Callison Community, April 29, 1941, to the late Margaret Brown Chappelle and Jasper Talbert. She was the widow of the late Robert “Bob” Rapp. She worked at Greenwood Mills for over 25 years and later worked at Park Seed in Cokesbury.

Jannie, was reared by her grandmother, Ms. Essie Hogan, and Aunt Mary Lee Palmore. She was a member of Calvary Grove Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated servant for God, until her health began to fail her. Jannie loved to sing and praise the lord. She began singing as a child in the church and never stopped singing songs of Zion for God. Jannie loved God and her family in that order. Jannie prepared her family for such a time as this, and always said that we are born to die, so live your life to make it on the right side to live with Jesus.

She was preceded by death by a son, Darryl Omega Rapp, her grandmother, Ms. Essie Hogan, an aunt Mrs. Mary Lee Palmore, four brothers, Fate Wideman, Leon Wideman, Marion Wideman, and John Fuller, Jr. and three sisters, Mary Fuller, Sarah Wideman and Carrie Lujean Elam.

She leaves to cherish her memories, 4 sons, Marvin Rapp, Lloyd ( Connie) Rapp, Robert “ Gene” ( Valorie) Rapp, Jr. and Theodore ( Jacqueline A.) Rapp, all of Greenwood; sisters, Annie Kate McMorris, Polly Mae Chiles, Pauline Workman and Judy Wideman all of Greenwood, Louise Vandiver (Stanley) Little and Mildred (Danny) Boggs, both of Anderson, SC; and Margaret Dennis of Norristown, PA, and one brother, Paul Wideman of Norristown, PA; nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services are at noon on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Calvary Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Minister Rosa Fernandez. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Evening Star Cemetery. The family is at the home. Arrangements are being handled by Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc.
