George Yeldell Obituary

George W. Yeldell was born to the late Mammie Turner Yeldell Calhoun, and the late Willie “Bubba” Yeldell. He was married to the late Mary Fisher Yeldell, and to their union they had two sons, Dr. George (Georgia), and Donald (Patricia).


George worked at the South Carolina Highway Department for over “30 Years”, and upon his retirement he drove for vocational rehabilitation, and Greenwood School District 50. He was proud of educating his sons, he was a deacon in the church, former Sunday school superintendent, and he loved the bible and his church.


He is survived by two additional children, James Calvin Roberts and Carolyn Roberts Henderson; a sister, Clara Calhoun Gaston; a brother-in-law, Clarence Fisher; three grandchildren, George III (Shantel), Tokia, and Courtney; Four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A primary caregiver, Angie Phillips, and others, Brandon Tate, Courtnaye Bennett, Yasmine Fuller, Moses Johnson, and Brenda Roberts.



Services will be 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Crossroad Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Joseph Caldwell. Burial will follow in the Evening star cemetery. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. Please be mindful and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
