Edward Hackett Sr.

Deacon Edward Hackett Sr. was born November 16, 1930 to the late Carrie Lou Tolbert Hackett Sheppard and Ernest Hackett, Sr. The Lord called him home July 7, 2019 after an extended illness.

Deacon Edward Hackett Sr. was a member of Bethlehem Church of God Holiness, where he served in many capacities, including remodeling of Old Bethlehem, Sunday school teacher, finance committee, and transportation committee. Mr. Hackett owned and operated Hackett Construction constructing homes for many years throughout Greenwood and surrounding counties.

Mr. Hackett was first married to the late Isabella D. Hackett with whom they shared nine children, four preceded him in death; Joseph, Josephine, Samuel and Zachariah Hackett. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobbie and Ernest Jr; three sisters, Carrie Mae Edwards, Mary Alice Lake, and Bettye Jean Laster.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories his wife, Bobbie Anderson Hackett of the home; one son, Edward (Barbara) Hackett Jr. of Greenwood; four daughters, Mrs. Mary L. (Elder Marvin) Norman and Mary Johnson, both of Charlotte, NC, Priscilla McCree of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Shirley (J.C.) Hunter of Greenwood; a grandson reared in the home, Tokay T. Hackett of Alexandria, VA; one brother, Willie Bill Hackett, of Greenwood three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Hackett Mosley of NY, Mrs. Clemetine Griffin and Mrs. Tenessa (Harold) Kersey, both of Greenwood; fifteen grandchildren, 29 great-grands, seven great-great grands; two step-children, Michelle (Kenneth) Smoot of Greenwood and Derrick Anderson of Bishopville, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and the entire Bethlehem & St. Paul Churches of God Holiness family.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Chapel of Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc., conducted by Elder Joe Warren. Interment will follow in The Evening Star Cemetery. The family is at the home, 315 Sullivan Street and visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Robinson & Son Mortuary. 

A memorial service will be held in honor of Deacon Edward Hackett, Sr at Bethlehem Church of God Holiness, 404 Spring Valley Rd, Greenwood, SC on Saturday, July 13th at 1 o'clock pm.
