Clara Emery Hart

Greenwood, SC- Clara Emery Hart, 88, of 134 South University Street, widow of John Lester Hart Sr., gained her angel wings on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the Ashley Place. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Smith Emery and the late Maxine Gary Emery. She was a member of Second Damascus Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, member of the Missionary Society, and Willing Workers until her health declined. Mrs. Hart was also a member of the AARP, and she loved attending the Senior Center (Piedmont Center on Aging) and playing Bingo. She is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stanley R. Nicholson, a daughter-in-law, Montez Smith Hart, and a brother-in-law, Joe L. Norman.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three children, John Lester Hart Jr. of Greenwood, SC, Jodie Hart Nicholson of Orlando, FL, and Artemus Hart of the home; two sisters, Betty Jean (William Sr.) Higgins, and Dorothy Norman both of Greenwood, SC two grandchildren, Ahmad Jamaal(April)Hart, and Myshira Jihan Hart both of Greenwood, SC; a special caregiver, Andrea McDowell; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Second Damascus Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Leroy Robertson. Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. Please be mindful and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
