Christine Pope Lark, 91, widow of the late Willie Lark, entered into eternal rest at the Augusta Burn Institute in Augusta, GA on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Christine was born on September 3, 1930 to the late Carroll Pope, Sr. and the late Johnnie Mae Anthony Pope. She was also the step daughter of the late Sarah Mae Pope. Christine and her twin "Booster", lost their mother at three months old and was reared in the home of their late grandmother, Susan B. Holloway Anthony and her late aunt, Mattie Anthony Hailey. With a warm smile, open heart and helping hands, Christine was a friend to many and never met a stranger.
Christine graduated from the Ninety-Six Public School System. She joined Enoree Zion Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until her health failed. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Missionary Board and One Hundred Ladies in White. She retired from Greenwood Mills Ninety-Six Plant, after 12 years of service.
Christine is survived by a twin brother, Carroll (Bessie) Pope, Sr. of Depew, NY; John Willie Pope and Jessie James Pope, both of Ninety-Six; a sister-in-law, Julia Mae Lark of Ninety-Six; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, two "buddies", Shirley J. Hailey and Ruth B. Forrest, both of Ninety-Six to cherish her memories.
Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Enoree Zion Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Anderson Robinson. Viewing will be held from 2:00-5:00 pm on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc. Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc. are in charge of arrangements.
