Augustus "Gus" Covington Sr.

Greenwood, SC- Augustus “Gus” Covington Sr., 89, of 309 Carolina Street, husband of Vicky Covington, departed this walk of life on, Friday, July 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina he was the son of the late Fred Harmon, and the late Annie Gambrell. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, Usher, and Pastor's Aide community, and he was also a member of the Mason Harmony Lodge #37. He is preceded in death by one brother, David Covington, and three sisters, Mary Jenkins, Annie Lee Ramsey, Sarah Covington.

He leaves to cherish his loving wife of  31 years, Vicky Covington of the home; one son, Augustus (Kathy) Covington Jr. of Columbia, SC; six daughters, Rev. Patrice Thompson and Veronica (Calvin) Jackson both of Columbia, SC, Una Boozer of Simpsonville, SC, Glenda (Kevin) Davis and Cynthia Boozer both of Greenwood, SC, and Sheneka Boozer (Kenta Jordan) of Newport News, VA; one brother, Robert Kennedy of Greenwood, SC; three sisters, Marcella Ferguson and Vanessa Harmon both Baltimore, MD, and Mary Alice Crawford of Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Services will be 2: 00 PM on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Macedonia Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Patrice Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. Please be mindful and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
