Willie James "Hoot" Harris

Willie James “Hoot” Harris Sr.,72, of 305 Nicholson Drive, husband of Benetta Harris, departed this life on Monday, May 20, 2019 at his home. Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late George Harris and the late Roxie Duncan Harris. He was a member of Marshall Chapel Baptist Church, where he was a Trustee and was a member of Promised Land VFD Station #20 and Harmony Lodge #37.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of the home; three sons, Stanley (Ann) Moss of Charlotte, NC, Willie Harris, Jr. of Greenwood and Chad (Carol) Chiles of Simpsonville, SC; four daughters, Tamiko Harris of the Promised Land Community, Michelle (Anthony) Lawing of Washington, D.C., Latricia Harris of Charlotte, NC, and Keisha Chiles of Greenwood; one brother, Andrew (Evelyn) Harris of Abbeville, SC; one sister, Songa (Sam) Lewis of Greenwood; twenty grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services are 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Marshall Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Eric Morton. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion AME Church Cemetery.
