Lillie Ruth Chenaught Dozier

 Mrs. Lillie Ruth Chenault Dozier of Brooklyn, NY, 89, transitioned to be with the Lord on August 4, 2019. She was the widow of Paul Dozier and mother of Richard Dozier (deceased). Lillie Ruth was the daughter of the late Andrew and Lucy Chenault. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John D. Chenault, McKinley Chenault, Dr. George S. Chenault, and James A. Chenault; and three sisters, Estelle Fisher, Essie Lue Goodwin, and Henrietta Joyner.

She graduated from SC State College in 1953, with a BS degree in Home Economics. She moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she began teaching elementary school until she retired.

She joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Greenwood, at a very young age. After relocating to NY, she joined Holy Nazarene House of Prayer and became very active as Sunday School Superintendent and a leader of children’s ministries. In 1971, she joined Tabernacle of Prayer for All People where she continued her Christian education in bible classes. She faithfully served in the Sick and Bereavement Auxiliary and was acknowledged as one of the church mothers.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her dear brother Marion (Ireatha) Chenault of Ellicott City, MD, two sister-laws, Marianne D. Chenault of Beaufort, SC, and Geraldine C. Prentice of Bronx, NY, and nieces, nephews, cousins and goddaughters.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Tabernacle of Prayer in Jamaica, NY, noon Saturday, August 10, 2019. Services and burial will be held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 914 Highway 221 S in Greenwood, SC on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11 a.m.
