Bennie Norris Crawford Sr

Bennie Norris Crawford Sr., 72, of 208 Simpkins Road, widower of Lillie Belle Morton Crawford, departed this walk of life on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont. Born in Abbeville, SC, he was the son of the late Wade Lee Howland and the late Mary Crawford.

He served 22 years in the US Navy, was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Gospel Chorus and the Morton Combination. Mr. Crawford also held a position as Assistant Chief at The Promised Land Volunteer Fire Department and was employed with Flexible Technologies.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Rev. Bennie (Kenyetta) Crawford, Jr. of the Promised Land Community; three daughters, Benetra (Jesse) Calhoun of McCormick, Rhonetta Bini Crawford of the home and Lilyette “Margie” Pugh of Greenwood; one brother, Jeffrey (Audrey) Ford of Calhoun Falls; three sisters, Jo Ann Jones of Greenwood, Frances “Buchie” Crawford and Darlene (Vincent) Moffett, both of Abbeville; nine grandchildren, one that was reared in the home, Alexandria Crawford; eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services are 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Raymond Adams. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites. The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 am. The family will receive friends and family at the Chapel of Robinson & Son Mortuary from 5-7 on Tuesday evening.
